How to read this figure
Method
fob[product, year] = sum of the FOB value of the organic basket codes of that product over the twelve months and all destinations of the year; total = sum of every basket code
Limitations
This figure is not the one ODEPA publishes in its article «Agricultura Orgánica: Actualización del sector» of December 2024. The article adds up the codes whose description contains «orgánic»; the lab's basket also includes two codes spelled «organicos» without the accent and leaves out one where the word describes the binders of a wood panel. From 2018 to 2021 this puts the basket between 0.07 and 0.14 % above the article. In 2022 and 2023 the basket is 4.67 and 7.75 % above the article and no code explains the gap: the resources for those years were republished in March 2026, after the article, and the portal does not keep the earlier version. The tariff code reflects what the exporter declares about the product; the lab does not verify it. Figures for the year of each capture and the year before are provisional, as ODEPA declares them: the current year adds up the months published by the date of its capture, and both are recalculated with every republication.
Confidentiality
ODEPA does not report how many exporters are behind each figure, and a single code, destination and month may belong to one company: the figure is therefore published only by year and aggregated product.
Revision policy
ODEPA republishes the resources for the current and previous year every month. Each run reads the whole year again and the new figure replaces the previous one, keeping its history.
